Microfluidic Sperm Sorting is a specialized Andrology laboratory technique use to prepare Sperm for fertilization either by IUI, IVF , ICSI/IMSI.
It uses principles of ‘Lab-On-A-Chip’ to separate the healthiest sperms for treatment.
Using the biomechanical movement data of the Sperm, the Chip has been created so only the most motile, normal, less DNA fragmented sperm swim into the selection well and are selected by the Andrologist for processing. The Andrologist hands over the prepared sperm to the Embryologist / ICSI Specialist for further treatment.
Who Needs It?
Sometimes, the sperm processing techniques used in day to day laboratory practice are not suitable for patients with moderate to severe male infertility depending on individual Sperm Health Test.
Many male infertility patients with
- High DNA Fragmentation
- Lower Count
- Lower Motility
- Low Volume
- Low Normal Morphology
Are benefitted by opting for Microfluidic Sperm Sorting.
When patient sperm count is extremely low (<1 mil) Microfludic Sperm Sorting is the only method by which healthy spermatozoa can be obtained for Fertilization of oocytes.
